Tea Ceremony
(Let's Begin with Refined Conversation...)

The art and hospitality of drinking and sharing tea has become a tradition in many parts of the world, some more formal and intricate than others. But to all, it is a special experience. It is my pleasure to invite you to join me for a cultural fusion of celebrating many fine teas and tea recipes I have collected from around the world, employing both simple as well as contemplative methods in their enjoyment. Here are some of my favorites:

Green Tea - I have several prized Green Teas which I have collected over time and continue to explore and experiment with. The best are fresh and loose (not in a bag) and must be carefully and precisely prepared and steeped according to variety. The health benefits are many. The secret of Green Tea lies in the fact that it is rich in healthful anti-oxidants. It has long been used for a variety of concerns including aiding weight loss, mental sharpness, concentration and reducing stress and cholesterol levels, to name just a few. It is also a great aid to meditation practice. This is why I love it.

Kava Tea - Kava is a highly prized medicinal and beverage plant, whose primary benefit is alleviating anxiety. It has long been used and cultivated for its ability to calm the body and mind, and encourage a good night's sleep. A powerful antispasmodic, this herb promotes a state of "relaxed unconcern" while compromising neither mental functions nor clarity of thought when used appropriately. It's incredible before receiving a massage, to further assist in relieving muscle tension and mild pain.

Ginger Tea - An earthy tea made from the ginger root, the special components which give good health are thought to be volatile oils and pungent phenol compounds (such as gingerols and shogaols). Ginger has been used to aid digestion and treat stomach upset and nausea for more than 2,000 years. Since ancient times, ginger has also been used to help treat arthritis, colic, and heart conditions. I especially enjoy making and serving this tea with lemon and a complement of honey or agave sweet nectar.

Chrysanthemum Tea - A delightfully light flower tea, Chrysanthemum Tea has been used traditionally and medicinally for influenza and its overall cooling effect on the body. It is perfect on a warm sunny day, to relax and soothe your nervous system. Peaceful.

Chai - A warm blend of Black Tea, spices and milk, slow cooked over a low flame and sweetened. I learned how to make this tea while living in a yoga ashram in San Francisco, California. Stimulating, it's best after a good meal.
